An exlibris is a vignette engraved with a motif, a phrase or initials, which booklovers stick in their books in order to personalise them. The exlibris of ile Herm鐚玸, grandson of the Parisian house is founder, takes its inspiration from a drawing by the French painter Alfred de Dreux, featuring a groom and carriage, synonymous with the romantic era of Paris. The image draws strength from its simplicity, and has been interpreted numerous times over the years. In this scarf, the illustrator Louis Boquin dresses it in motifs normally used for silk ties, in a play of geometrical lines juxtaposing circles, squares, triangles and letters.
